Materials, Resources

Watercolor paper: I use Arches Natural White 140 lb. watercolor paper - Cold Press - for this lesson.

Paints - Winsor & Newton

• French Ultramarine Blue
• Burnt Umber
• A bit of Yellow Ochre
• A bit of Scarlet Lake

Brushes

• Michael Klein Synthetic Pointed Round Brush, size 2, by Rosemary & Co. 
•  Series 2230 Spiky Comber Golden Synthetic Brush (1/2 inch) to create thin, fine hair quickly - You could also use a Princeton Select Filbert Grainer 1/2".
• Princeton Velvetouch Long Round Brush, series 3950 sizes 6, 14

Preparation:

• I cut the watercolor paper into small pieces, about 5 x7 inches.
• Because these are small studies, I did not stretch (soak) the paper.
• I used masking tape to attach the watercolor paper to a piece of cardboard.
