July Watercolor Challenge (Free!)

Challenge Yourself! Celebrate World Watercolor Month!

Challenge Yourself to Paint Every Day!

#rebeccarhodesart................. #WorldWatercolorMonth

Join us as we celebrate World Watercolor Month - Pick up that brush and paint every day in July!

When: The challenge will begin July 1 and will end July 31, but you can prepare as far in advance as you wish and join at any time! Enroll to learn all about our challenge (it's free!)

How it Works:

Every day in July, paint something in watercolor or gouache. It could be anything - a full painting, a study, or just a couple splashes of color on paper. Beginning July 1, share your painting with us and on your favorite social media platforms. Repeat every day in July (or as many days as you can.)

What Shall I Paint? Paint anything that has to do with watercolor or gouache. Create a personal challenge for yourself!

  • Improve your eyes and noses
  • Create cards for the holidays
  • Paint your pet
  • Get back into the habit of painting every day! Choose something that you have been yearning to do. What a great opportunity to set new goals and establish new habits!

Not sure what to paint? Begin with these Eye and Nose challenges, part of our monthly and annual membership!

Why Should I Join this Challenge? What Will I Get Out of This?

  • If you have been yearning to paint something in watercolor and just haven't had the time, or if you need a "boost" to get back into it, World Watercolor Month is the perfect time to begin!
  • Get into the habit of painting every day! Gain confidence. Your skills and muscle memory will improve because you are painting consistently.
  • Have fun, share your work, encourage others, and make new friends!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How Do I Join the Challenge?

Enroll in this course. It's free, and no credit card is required. That's it!

Do I Have to Create an Entire Painting?

Not at all. The idea is to paint something every day based on your personal goals. It could be an eye, a nose, a color chart, a mini painting, part of a painting, a study, a splash of color - anything!

What if you can’t commit to painting every day ? Can I still join the challenge? Is it o.k. to drop in and out?

Yes! Do what you can. You set your own goal, and it's o.k. to miss some days. You could post every other day, once a week - whatever works for you. The challenge is about building your skills and confidence. It's about painting more often. It's about having fun and developing new habits!

Can I get started before July? Yes! I plan to start painting in June to get into the "groove" of things and to have some back-up paintings. That way, if life gets in the way, I will have something to post every day.

Can I Join Late? Yes! Feel free to jump in any time. In fact, you can take this challenge at any time - any month!

About World Watercolor Month

World Watercolor Month was founded by Charlie O’Shields, the creator of Doodlewash®, and host of the Sketching Stuff podcast.

It’s a month to inspire people to paint with watercolor (watercolour, aquarelle) while raising awareness for the importance of art and creativity in the world. And anyone can join the celebration from master watercolorists to artists just starting out with watercolor! Simply tag any art that uses watercolors (or gouache) with #WorldWatercolorMonth during the month of July! Try the ultimate challenge of 31 watercolors in 31 days, or simply post when you can! It’s just about maintaining a regular art practice and having fun!

And, best of all, you’ll be part of raising awareness for art education and helping nurture art and creativity in children across the globe via the International Child Art Foundation!

Rebecca Rhodes is honored to be a World Watercolor Month Artist Ambassador, and has pledged to donate a portion of each purchased course in this school during the month of July to the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF) which employs the universal language of art to cultivate schoolchildren’s creativity to prepare them for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and develop mutual empathy for a peaceful future. In addition, she has donated art for limited edition souvenir products where all proceeds go to ICAF.

My goal is to empower, encourage, and equip - to help you learn to paint detailed, realistic subjects in watercolor so you can use these techniques to develop your own unique style!

Before becoming a full-time artist, I enjoyed a 27-year career as a public school Music Educator. In 2015, I retired from teaching to focus on painting and founded this online school in 2017.
